Dual pricing

Dual pricing means displaying the price in both Slovak koruna and euro at the same time. Only the set conversion rate can be used for dual pricing. All cash transactions will use dual pricing. Price information in SKK and EUR will also include the conversion rate. This will be used for the prices that were, before 31st December 2008, determined only in Slovak koruna.

Dual pricing relates mainly to price tags in shops, but will also be used on bank statements, telephone bills, electricity and gas bills, as well as other miscellaneous bills for services, e.g. cable TV, food-vouchers, reminder notices, securities statements, payroll slips, or employment agreements that will be issued during the period of compulsory dual pricing.

The dual pricing will begin one month after the conversion rate is set, at the latest. It is assumed that the conversion rate will be set either at the end of May or the beginning of June 2008. This means that within a month after this date the shopkeepers must provide the information related to values in Slovak koruna in dual pricing. Compulsory dual pricing will end on 31st December 2009, with the option to continue until 30th June 2010.
