The financial institution ING entered the life insurance market of Slovakia in 1996 by establishing the life insurance house Nationale-Nederlanden, which today operates under the name ING Životná poisťovňa. With its international know-how and strong financial backround in the sphere of pension savings ING set up ING doplnková dôchodková poisťovňa - 3rd pillar and thus made the pension product available for the Slovak clientes in 2004. In the same year the ING Pension Administration Company was granted the licenses and started to offer the 2nd pillar solutions - pension savings of the reformed Slovak pension system. In the present time ING is a pension leader in Slovakia. ING Tatry-Sympatia, d.s.s., a.s. is the very first supplementary pension savings company, it has been a long-time number 1 among the supplementary pension savings companies in Slovakia and ING Pension Administration Company maintainst firmly its 4th place in the strong competition of administration compenies. In 2007 ING repeatedly received the multiple award in the prestigious financial competition in SR "Zlatá minca" for quality, reliability, efficiency, and originality of products and services.
