Towards the end of 1995 the Executive Board of ING Group decided to enter the Slovak insurance market. As early as the beginning of 1996 we started to build up a company from scratch and we managed to transform what was a developing company into a mature, profitable company.

ING Životná poisťovňa, a.s. is a part of the ING Group, one of the most reputable financial groups in the world. ING Group offers integrated financial services through a large number of companies worldwide. Financial services are based on three pillars: insurance, banking and asset management. In Slovakia it is represented by ING Bank N.V. Bratislava branch and ING Životná poisťovňa, a.s.. The founder and sole shareholder of ING Životná poisťovňa, a.s., a.s. is ING Continental Europe Holdings B.V. based in the Hague, the sole owner of which is ING Verzekeringen N.V., - the insurance branch of the ING Group.

ING Životná poisťovňa, a.s. (formerly known as Nationale-Nederlanden) in Slovakia have been valued for quality products and service provided by financial advisors. It was the first company in Slovakia to start offering Unit Linked products and product called Guaranteed Life Insurance, enabling its clients to invest into four funds - Mixed Fund, ING Foreign Mixed Fund, Bond Fund and ING Dollar Chare Fund. 70 per cent of the value of The ING mixed foreign fund’s assets is investment into shares of ING Multicolour Red Fund in Euro, which is domiciled in Luxembourg.

Another product, which our clients found very appealing was a new product aimed predominantly at children – Children’s Unit Linked Insurance. This product conveniently combines accident insurance with a wider insurance protection and savings. Having already a number of attractive insurance products in its portfolio, the company is successful in meeting its commitment to introduce new innovative solutions based on the continuous monitoring of the ever-changing needs of our clients.

In order to make our services widely accessible, we have extended our network of branches and our offices can now be found in more than 44 towns in all regions of Slovakia. We offer our services primarily through our own insurance advisors network. More than 1000 professionals, who are continuously improving their qualifications, work for our company today. All persons interested in working for ING undergo a demanding selection process, receive more than 40 days of training a year and must pass two annual exams. This guarantees their professional approach to their work for our clients.
